Afrodemocracy Journal is a brainchild and an online media platform of Chrizzima Democracy University (CDU). The blog discusses the daily/weekly political happenings, public policy and public health issues in Africa with the intent of championing democracy, promoting good governance and defending human rights from an African perspective.
Registered on 5th December 2012 with PACRA under the Companies Act CAP 388 of the laws of Zambia, CDU is an academic institution and policy think tank that promote the values of democracy and good governance at national, regional and international level through research, critical policy analysis, lobbying, advocacy, tertiary education, capacity building, political commentary, media blogging, publication and community project implementation from a Zambian and African perspective. CDU is premised on the “Theory of Multiple Democracies” i.e. there is what could be termed as European, American, Latino, Asian or African democracy; Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Buddha or Secular democracy; or British, Iranian, Malagasy, Indian, French, Zambian, Brazilian, Russian, German, Rwandan, Chinese, Venezuelan, Finnish, Nigerian, American or Japanese democracy. Although CDU is yet to register with the Zambia Higher Education Authority and consequently may start full academic programs soon or later, the outfit is already providing some technical services, consultancy, research and designing as well as implementing community projects such as the ZAADASEA project among many others.
